1. What is Mateixa?
Mateixa is an independent body care brand, born out of love and appreciation for Barcelona.
We believe the body deserves the same level of respect and care as the face — especially when adapting to the local environment of sun, sea, and salt.
It's about creating sensorial skincare that holds emotions, memories, and comfort. Mateixa isn't about chasing trends. Just honest care, made in Barcelona, shaped by where we are and how we live.
We are starting with one product, not a full menu. Something you come back to. Something you enjoy, day after day.
2. What does “Mateixa” mean?
In Catalan, Mateixa means herself, or the same. Jo mateixa — I did this myself, alone, without any help.
The word is a gentle reminder to reclaim your personal space and look after yourself. It's not about transforming you. Just recognising who you are — tal com som.
Go on. Say it out loud. mA-TÉI-shaaaah.

3. What is Mar i Muntanya?
Mar i Muntanya — sea and mountain — is the geography that defines Catalonia. The Mediterranean coast and the Pyrenees, a few hours apart.
It's also a way of eating here: seafood and mountain dishes on the same menu, sometimes on the same plate. Local, specific, quietly proud of itself.
For us, Mar i Muntanya is about sortir — the unhurried culture of living out in the open, whether you are hiking, swimming, or enjoying tardeos and sobremesas.
Landscape becomes part of everyday life, and that shapes what your skin goes through every day. That's the environment Mateixa is made for.
4. What is Mateixa inspired by?
Catalan gastronomy, mostly.
Not as a gimmick. Not as an ingredient story. But as a way of thinking about care — the same attention, the same slowness, the same insistence on quality without making a fuss.
Food here isn't just nutrition — it is texture, aroma, seasonality, and an expression of love. We wanted to bring that same tactile, emotional connection into body care.
Our first product, Ben Cremada Body Cream, is directly inspired by a beloved traditional dessert: Crema Catalana.
We studied the way warm milk transforms into custard — that specific peak, that texture that melts before it holds. The scent brings comfort and memory. Something familiar. Subtle, like a memory — not a direct hit of cinnamon, citrus, and caramel sugar.
It's also Barcelona itself — landscapes, art, and traditions tied to place and to shared moments.
5. When will Mateixa launch?
Soon. A few months away.
We're in the final stages — EU regulatory testing, stability checks, the last details on packaging. Every step takes the time it takes.
We're not rushing it to fit a marketing calendar. We'd rather launch a little later and stand fully behind what we made.
